Do you recognize this; you have come back from a holiday, you get back to work and the same day at five o'clock (or the next day at four) you seem to have forgotten about your holiday. The energy and fine ideas that you brought back with you are fading away once you are behind your desk.In general. Traveling is often used as a metaphor to explain a change. People travel all the time and changes are also omnipresent. You can travel alone or with a team. And the destination of a journey may be seen as the result of a new change. You are never the same when you have experienced a journey or holiday, but the way in which you have really changed is limited.The journey. To map this metaphor the journey could be mapped on a change program. Your organization runs this change program and at the end, the program (journey) is over and the change is made.Preparations. A long journey requires some preparations or planning. For a journey this is easily done and a free choice for the traveler. If its pure holiday you are free to improvise but you would be sorry if all the hotels are booked just at the moment you had planned to visit. A change could be planned but with much less certainty. The destination – the next topic – is a place that needs to be constructed. This is one of the liabilities of a change that you never know when you have “made it.”Destination. The destination could either be the same place from where you departed or a new location. In the first case, the journey could be anything as simple as a holiday or as promising as a sabbatical. The longer the time you take for this sabbatical, the harder it will be you zip back into your old life. And that’s the risk of such a tour that you may have changed over time. DS: What inspired you to follow an entreprenerial path and in particular what inspired you to write the Small Business Handbook?
CR: Well, I was never the ‘selling packets of sweets’ kind of playground budding entrepreneur at school, and my main dream was to become a freelance writer, but somewhere at the back of my mind I liked the idea of running my own business, something small and (dare-I-say-it) manageable. (I now know that smaller businesses are often harder to manage due to the lack of people to delegate tasks to).
However, it was mainly circumstance that led me to start-up, and the support and encouragement of my partner, James. And I think it is that circumstance - which creates entrepreneurs. The majority of self-made types are ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Data warehousing is a well-organized and resourceful method of managing and reporting data from a variety of sources, non-uniform and scattered, throughout the company.Data warehouses are vast, due to the hundreds of gigabytes of transactions. As a result, subsets, known as ‘data marts,’ are often designed for just one department or product line.The data warehouse system serves as an influential and necessary platform, to merge the data from the old and new applications. Rules can also be transferred to the data warehouse, with very little effort. The most important and noteworthy features of a data warehouse is that it collects, records, filters and provides the basic data, to other organizational systems, at various higher levels.Essentially, data warehouses are programmed to perform the summarization and pre-defining of the analysis, to automatically generate summary reviews. Data warehousing helps to analyze information for the users. This system is very useful for providing collective information to the users. Data warehousing systems have been created to support a variety of analysis, including elaborate queries on large amounts of data that require extensive searching.

Also, I guess some of my ‘entrepreneurial spirit’ came from my mum. She passed away in 1991 when I was just 17. And, to cope with the trauma and loss, I began to fill my time with trying to further my writing career. Years after her death, one of my mother’s best friends told me that mum always believed that I would someday run my own business. I had no idea that she thought that until a few years into my first business, but that gave me the inspiration I needed to think about writing my book. Having succeeded in business through a combination of determination and my own trial and error, I longed to write a book that would offer insight and encouragement to young entrepreneurs like me who dreamt of running their own business, but didn’t have the faintest idea where to start. Ultimately, The Small Business Start-Up Workbook is the culmination of that dream.
DS: Did you have any help setting up WebCritique your first company or were you going it alone?
CR: In terms of advice I received help and guidance from my Local Enterprise Agency, but got most of the information I needed from the web. In terms of finance my personal bank turned me down for a business loan, so I set up a new account – great while it was free, but not so useful now it isn’t. Choosing the right business bank is a crucial decision and worth spending time on. I’m with Lloyds but wouldn’t recommend a bank who’s business managers are difficult to get hold of and don’t see the longer-term bigger picture.
