So, as an adult we have to change that negative programming so NO doesn't mean that I'm saying NO to you, but that I'm saying NO to your opportunity, product or service. Growing up, we are told NO! However, as a child or growing adolescent we don't understand that being told NO is not a personal affront to us, but to whatever the action or behavior we are exhibiting at the time we hear the word NO. This will encourage introspection and change in your mindset for it to be fully effective and not be a point of contention when approaching your warm and cold markets. I do believe the coaching techniques where new prospects or MLMers are told to collect decisions, but in order to do so you have to hear the NOs to get to YES! So here are some pointers: 1.Say NO first. If you come across someone that hems and haws and can't give you a straight answer then they will be that way in your business. Additionally, you may always have to chase them down to be your customer. At the first sign of someone not being able to make a decision about your opportunity, service or product tell them NO that it may not be as good an opportunity or product or service for them as you had previously thought. Thank them for their time and listening and move on to the next person. This is a very empowering method and works like a charm. 2.Don't react to the word NO. Remember, people have a choice. When you were asked, you had a choice. You could have stated NO, but chose Yes, instead. The same with people you meet. Would you want someone that cannot or won't commit to what you're asking them to consider or someone that is able to make a decision and stick to it. It doesn't matter if they are your customer or perspective business partner. Someone that is serious and able to fulfill commitments is someone that you want to invest your time with. 3.The gurus or what they call the top money makers will tell you to step out there and just do it. In my opinion, this is a process. It can be a low process, but one that can be accomplished with coaching and mentoring. Keep in mind not everyone is gregarious and comfortable with making requests of people and coming to terms with not getting the right response. We all approach people and in our mind we already hear the word Yes! So, for those that can't stand to hear NO, keep in mind it is a process and after awhile when you hear NO it won't be so devastating and you will understand that it is not about you, but they really may not want what you're peddling or to join your opportunity, sometimes they really can't afford it or cannot fulfill the commitment to you as a business partner or customer.
