I say ‘theme’ not ‘problem’ because I’m the eternal optimist, and I’m sure most understand my point of view by now that everything is an opportunity to grow and learn. So you’ve decided about your website design and now you are ready to have your website hosted! When choosing the right web host, they are several factors to consider:I. How often is the web server up? II. Does the server provide SSL? III. Does the server provide for server side scripting? (e.g PHP, ASP?) IV. Free or paid? V. What is the upload limit? What is the file limit? VI. Customer support? With that said, I’ve noticed a recurring theme lately; too many opportunities. Not sure what I mean? Well, how about if I phrase it this way; ‘I’ve noticed a recurring problem; too many distractions’. I’m sure a bunch of light bulbs just went off! This is a world filled with opportunities, and we shouldn’t look at this as a bad thing. When issues arise and we start to get distracted is when we do not commit to one thing at a time. We all have many aspirations and dreams, and by all means go after all of them! Just do it one at a time. I tend to see a lot of people (including myself!) who are involved in a business/charity/project, and while they are in the midst building that business, making it successful and reaching the goals they had set – something else comes along and catches their attention. Sometimes we think ‘oh, that’s a great opportunity! I can’t pass it up. I can do them both’ or we might think ‘this seems like it will be easier to be successful with…let me try this out’. That the Druids were able to still and control their minds is unquestioned, but the techniques they used have apparently been lost to the ravages of time and the lack of written records. As with much of the re-creation of the Druid paths, we find ourselves turning to other cultures and methodologies to fill in the gaps. You see an exit and you think ‘I wonder what’s at this exit…let me check it out.’ So you get off the exit and you go and spent some time in that town. You get back on the highway, and see the next exit and think ‘This looks interesting…I wonder what’s in this town’ and so forth. How long is it going to take you to reach your destination if you keep getting off at every single exit along the way, and visiting ever town between home and your destination? FOREVER!! The point is, there are many wonderful towns and cities between here and anywhere you choose to visit. These are all ‘opportunities’ (or distractions). But if we have a set destination (goal) we have to continue driving straight on that highway, ignoring all irrelevant exits until we reach our destination. After we reach our destination, we can look back and pick another place to check out and visit. Does this make sense? There are many wonderful opportunities out there for whatever you want to do with your life. The key is to pick one, set a goal for it, and work until you achieve it, ignoring anything that comes along that could take you out of the way. We’ve all at some point taken on too much, or tried to fit too many things into one day. It doesn’t work. We either don’t get everything done, or we do everything at 50%.
