FYI: Dog Days is the name for the sultriest period of summer, from about July 3 to Aug. 11. Named in early times by observers in countries bordering the Mediterranean, the period was reckoned as extending from 20 days before to 20 days after the conjunction of Sirius (the dog star) and the sun.First and foremost is to learn to create your own opportunity you have to get your name out there. Just don't sit around wailing for the phone to ring.Start with a vanity search and type your Are you thinking about going into business? A new business idea is an exciting, hope filled time where people can see themselves reaping the rewards of a good idea and hard work. Things like financial independence, new cars, nice homes and the like and cash…lots and lots of cash. But thinking about success at the beginning of a new business venture is much like thinking about standing on the moon holding a flag. Easy to think, not so easy to do. To get to the moon you need one hell of a plan, engineering teams, scientists, computers, industrial facilities and tremendous amounts of human capital and effort and the financial resources of a nation. If you don’t have all these ingredients and more, you will never get to the moon no matter how much you believe you can do it. Immediately I thought of success as looking forward to Mondays. We are a society of "weekenders." One of the most popular catch phrases in the U.S. is "Thank God its Friday." I refer to this as the Friday-Generation syndrome. We live for the weekends and I have to wonder why? I love my Mondays. They exhilarate me! I think it really boils down to what we do for a living and how much we enjoy what we do. I remember Deepak Chopra once saying that most heart attacks occur at 9 am on Monday mornings. I don't think this is because we are a culture of masochists who just enjoy suffering. It is because we have not found our passion. No man who lives his life with a passion hates Mondays. You can quote me on that. So now the important part-how does one find their passion? Their place in the world? A couple of ways...1) Look to your childhood. The costs and logistics of shipping from China to the UK can be intimidating for inexperienced importers who don’t know what to expect. The wide variety of shipping rates just adds to the confusion - it’s very difficult to tell what ‘reasonable’ costs actually are.The first thing any new importer needs to do is make some inquiries. Don’t forget to shop around for shipping rates before selecting a wholesaler.I also recommend finding out the following details when you are arranging shipping:· Is there an inland freight charge to get to from the wholesale warehouse to port?· Is there a duty payable on the product?· Are there any restrictions on bringing this product to the UK?· Request the tariff number from the shipping agent.· Ask the shipping agent to quote you on the shipping cost, including any clearance documaybe so, but would you say that publicly? Workplace Melodrama--A Flair For The Dramatic A flair for the dramatic is a theatrical term used to describe an actress or actor who has a talent for melodrama, characterized by intensely enacted interpersonal conflict and exaggerated emotions. The central figure in a melodrama is the hero, who spins his tale or portrays the justice of his cause in a positive light. Counterparts include the villain and the fool who are ridiculed and portrayed negatively.Remember Aesop’s Fable, The Boy Who Cried Wolf? The story goes like this. A shepherd boy (self-styled hero) who was responsible for a flock of sheep had a habit of bringing out the villagers by screaming, Wolf! Wolf! When the villagers (fools according to the shepherd boy) came to help him, he would laugh at them and display a just-kidding attitude. The boy repeated his prank three or four times.Unfortunately, one day the wolf (the villain) cameuld you say that publicly? Successful Job Search: Knocking Out The Competition Most of the time, competition stimulates us, gets our juices flowing, generates creativity, a sense of excitement, and motivates us to perform at our best. Looking for work is another matter! When it comes to financial survival, to regaining independence and self-worth, competition can be crippling. We apply for a job in the fervent hope that hundreds of others are not also applying. Finding work is too serious an issue to be considered a game or a sport. We need to find that position that will make everything all right, make us believe in ourselves again, and help rebuild the self-esteem and self-confidence shattered by unemployment.Unless we are very lucky, there will be competition for every position we identify. Our remaining option is to set ourselves apart from other hungry applicants. How?Take a global view and emerge from the dank and slimy job search swamp by utilizit publicly?
