Technology Is Not a Substitute for Organization
Technology is changing business for everyone -- from small home- based businesses to mega multi-national corporations. Whether you are inspired or threatened by those changes, they are here to stay, or more accurately, to continue changing. You cannot only survive these changes, but turn them into exciting opportunities by applying some basic organizing principles. Not many years ago, getting organized was an option. Today technology has made it a necessity for three reasons: Today we have more to organize than ever before. Not only did the computer not give us the paperless age, it created more. In addition, we now have to organize the technology itself. Computers, fax machines, cellular phones, and on-line services enable us to do more -- and require us to do more. Once you have done that, you must promote your brand everyday in everything you do. When it is consistently promoted, it not only builds awareness of your pr

Media Training - Who Needs it?
It's flattering that the media has noticed your work – and you’d love the notoriety. But following that initial pride, your reaction might be (not necessarily in this order):Fear. Trepidation. What if I blow it? What if they ask me a hard question I can’t answer? And, omigod, do I really need this headache when I have a business to run?If this all sounds far too familiar, you’ve probably realized the need to be media prepared. That’s a good thing. After all, most people forget that a media interview is actually an opportunity – to say what you want to say. You just have to know how to take control. You’ve probably noticed that some companies and spokespeople are successful with the media – and some are not. The reason? Some folks better understand how the media works and how best to work with the media. So, what is the media interested in? news, news and more news. And what is news? Something that’s a first, a trend, unusual or unique, so

Promotional Mugs: Become a Part of the Legendary Coffee Experience
When you want someone to like you, associate yourself with something that they love. Take coffee for instance. How much of America, or the world for that matter, would still be asleep if it weren’t for this dark, smoky beverage? Now, coffee is messy without a receptacle. You can’t have coffee without a mug. Everyone knows that. Every morning a huge number of humans across the world seek solace in a mug of this steaming liquid. Are Your Employees Working When You're Not There?
Carl Lowe, a businessman who runs a computer sales company in Hong Kong, spends much of his time on business trips around the world, as well as visiting his family who live in Canada where is children go to school. His employees are hard working, honest and good at their jobs. But productivity charts seemed to show that more was being done when Carl was there. Since Carl couldn’t be there every day, he decided to do the next best thing. He set up a video camera in the corner of the front office, so he could watch what the employees were doing when he wasn’t there. He chose a larger model, one that the employees could see, and that even had a small red light on it that showed when he was recording or watching. Productivity went back up as employees wanted to make the best impression on their boss. Carl even turned off the red light so his employees couldn’t tell he was watching and was pleased to find that most of his employees continued being hardworking and industrious.A concern many pe
